Zanaco held to create four-way lead in Zambia Super League

Leaders Zanaco were held to a surprise 0-0 draw by lowly Kitwe United in their Zambia Super League clash at Nkwazi on Saturday, allowing Zesco United to draw level at the top of the table.

There are now four sides on 25 points after Prison Leopards and Forest Rangers also drew, but Zanaco lead via a superior goal-difference. Zesco do have a game in hand.

They will be disappointed not to have grabbed the win at Kitwe United though as they were denied a third win in a row by a team yet to pick up a win this season.

Leopards needed an injury-time goal from David Obash to rescue a point at home to Kabwe Warriors, who took the lead early in the first half through Zimbabwe midfielder Ali Sadiki.

Forest Rangers came from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw at Indeni. Who led thanks to Congolese forward Herititer Nkonko, and then profited from an own goal by Cameroonian Cedric Djeugoue.

But Rangers were given hope when veteran midfielder Clifford Mulenga netted, before Manasseh Soko grabbed an equaliser four minutes from time.

Zesco were comfortable 2-0 winners at home to Lusaka Dynamos as they grabbed two goals inside the opening 18 minutes, Jesse Were and John Ching’andu on the scoresheet.

Buildcon could also have moved to 25 points but they lost 1-0 at Nkwazi, Nelson Mwila getting the only goal of the game on 41 minutes.|

NAPSA Stars remain in the relegation zone after they were held to a 1-1 draw at Green Eagles, despite Jakob Ngulube giving the lead in the first half. The home side drew level through Hosea Silwimba.

Red Arrows claimed a 1-0 win over Lumwana Radiants thanks to a goal by Allasane Diarra, while Power Dynamos and Green Buffaloes played to a 0-0 draw.
